FAQs

What is Center-Based ABA Therapy?

Center-Based ABA Therapy is a structured, clinical environment where children receive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. This setting connects our clients with specialized tools and resources, allowing therapists to work on targeted behaviors and skills while fostering meaningful peer interactions in a controlled, supportive environment.

Who can benefit from Center-Based ABA Therapy?

Center-Based ABA therapy is ideal for children who thrive in a structured learning environment or need additional support to develop critical skills. It is particularly valuable for children who can benefit from peer interactions and focused one-on-one sessions with experienced therapists.

What types of skills are taught in Center-Based ABA Therapy?

Children will develop their skills in communication, social interaction, play, self-care, and pre-academic skills. Each program is individualized to address the child’s unique strengths and challenges, ensuring targeted growth in the areas most important to their development.

How is Center-Based ABA Therapy different from In-Home ABA Therapy?

Center-Based ABA Therapy occurs in a clinic setting, where children have access to structured activities, specialized materials, and interactions with peers, creating a highly controlled environment for learning. In contrast, In-Home ABA Therapy is conducted in the child’s natural environment, focusing on real-life applications and routines.

What is the role of the therapist in Center-Based ABA Therapy?

Therapists implement individualized treatment plans, measure progress through data collection, and make adjustments to help children meet their developmental goals. They also collaborate with families to provide continuity between therapy sessions and the child’s home life.

Can parents be involved in Center-Based ABA Therapy?

Yes, parent involvement is encouraged through regular progress meetings, training sessions, and open communication with the therapy team. Parents can also learn strategies to reinforce their child’s skills at home, creating a cohesive approach to their child’s development.

How many hours per week are recommended for Center-Based ABA Therapy?

The recommended hours vary depending on the child’s specific goals and needs but typically range from 20 to 40 hours per week. This level of intensity allows for consistent practice and reinforcement of learned skills.

What should I bring to a Center-Based ABA Therapy session?

Parents typically provide snacks, comfort items, or any specific materials recommended by the therapy team to support the child’s learning. If your child uses assistive communication devices, those should also be brought to each session.

How does Center-Based ABA Therapy address challenging behaviors?

Therapists use evidence-based strategies, such as identifying triggers, teaching replacement behaviors, and reinforcing positive actions. Over time, these approaches help children develop more effective ways to communicate their needs and manage their emotions.

Is Center-Based ABA Therapy covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans cover ABA therapy services as part of treatment for autism spectrum disorder. On Target ABA can assist families with verifying coverage, handling paperwork, and navigating the approval process.
